So who is the greatest leader in the world of today? Gunde Svan is doing a great job as the Swedish XC skiing team manager and Sir Alex Ferguson is still going strong at Man United, but perhaps their overall impact for the total population of the world can be discussed. Some might say that Dalai Lama is the most influencial individual that is living today, some other already say (or want to believe) that it will be Barak Obama. I suppose that it depends on where in the world that you live or perhaps your general belief in the global game that is ongoing.

Last night we watched the movie Goodbye Bafana, that covered parts of the prison time for Nelson Mandela in South Africa. Knowing what I'm knowing, I think that he is a good candidate for the title. Now over 90 years old, but still with a very bright mind and strong charisma. He has definately played a significant role both locally to get rid of apartheid, but also as an icon for the equal human rights globally. In 1990 I was backpacking in Africa for some months and happened to be in Malindi on the Kenyan coast on February 11 when they released him after 27 years in prison. It was fantastic celebrations everywhere and lots of partying, even though he had no direct political influence in that region of Africa. His long fight and dedication for his believes had given him a super-mega-star status everywhere and especially amongst the black African population. It was beyond anything that I had seen before and I realized how big he was first when I was there. He also always appears to be in total control with a smile on his face. Even if he has retired officially, he's a Great man! I rank him as number 1, just ahead of Sir Alex ;-) On Sunday it's time to show Chelsea how to play football. My prediction is 4-0, including a hat trick by Berbatov.
